Maps
Next to MBtiles-based maps, maps of various providers including Google Maps, OpenStreetMaps, OpenTopoMap are available.
Designed for the demanding virtual combat pilot, TacTraq is your comprehensive companion for planning virtual flights for the computer simulation DCS.
See wiki.tactraq.com for a complete list of TacTraq's features.
Next to MBtiles-based maps, maps of various providers including Google Maps, OpenStreetMaps, OpenTopoMap are available.
TacTraq uses an accurate terrain data model for various DCS maps enabling accurate minimum altitude and line of sight calculations.
Plan your flights by conveniently placing waypoints, set the flight profile, define the aircraft loadout and set target times. TacTraq will calculate the flightplan and takes care of limits.
The aircraft loadout can be specified and is taken into account in fuel calculations: The heavier the aircraft the higher the fuel burn and vv. TacTraq also features fuel calculations based on altitude, temperature and aircraft speed (currently available for the DCS F-16C, DCS F/A-18C and DCS C-130J Hercules).
Data is directly derived from DCS and constantly updated, e.g. when new maps are added. A user-defined database is work in progress so that maps can be added even without the automatic update function.
CombatFlite mission files can easily be imported enabling a seamless integration and leverage of TacTraqs capabilities like its fuel
calculations.
Data can be exported to tools like DCS-DTS, Tacview and also the native DCS DTC when it becomes available.
The ISR feature enables 'real time' satellite-like capabilities connected with DCS. Damage Assessment or target reconaissance becomes easy and can also be used to create targeting folders for upcoming missions.
TacTraq is permanently improved and provided with updates adding new features and improving existing ones.
Currently TacTraq is only available as a standalone desktop application. While an online version would be possible to do from a technical point of view, it would create several problems and also significantly increase cost (for the user) in order to provide the necessary server infrastructure.
However, collaboration capabilities are planned for the future (e.g. easy sharing of mission files).
Data import is currently available from CombatFlite. Import from DCS missions is in development.
TacTraq provides several possibilities to export data to commonly used programs like Tacview, DCS-DTC or the native DCS DTC feature pending its capabilities.
